It was pretty cold over much of the Black Sea wheat growing
area last night and it looks like it’s going to be another cold one tonight.
In Ukraine, Kyiv, Cherkassy, Dnipro, Poltava are looking at -14C
to -21C (7F to -6F) with more of the same predicted for Wednesday and Thursday,
while in Russia temperatures in Kursk, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Tambov, Penza and Saratov
will fall to a low of -26C (-15F).
Rostov is looking at -17C (1F) tonight and Stavropol -11C (12F)
with reports of limited snow cover and ice rain earlier in the day increasing
the risk of crop damage in these regions.
Krasnodar is forecast a balmy -6C (21F) by comparison although expected to
drop much lower as we move through the week.
Mykolaiv and Kherson in Ukraine remain at risk despite some snow
fall today as it could see -15C (5F) by Thursday so snow depth will be critical
here.
At the moment Odessa looks to be at low risk with temperatures
hovering around freezing until Thursday when it will drop to -11C (12F).
