Dormant winter wheat remained insulated by a moderate
to deep snowpack over much of the region.
Winter crop
areas from central Ukraine into central Russia remained
covered by 5 to 60 cm of snow.
However, southern
portions of Russia’s Southern District (Krasnodar Krai)
remained devoid of snow cover, though minimum
temperatures (-10 to -5°C) posed no threat to dormant
winter wheat.
