Russian milk and pork production up for first 5 months of this year

From January to April of this year, Russian pig production for slaughter by live weight increased by 5.7% compared to the same period last year and amounted to more than 1.46mmt.

Pork production increased in Pskov, Belgorod, Kursk, Voronezh, Tver, and Stavropol with slight decreases recorded in Tomsk, Penza, Vladimir, Vologda and Krasnodar.

From January to April of this year, Russian milk production increased by 3% or 181.6kmt compared to the same period last year and amounted to more than 6.4mmt.

The average yield per cow in agricultural enterprises (not micro enterprises) increased by 5.4% to 2,600kg for 5 months of the current year.

The increase in milk production (and presumably pig production) is being attributed to the implementation of measures to increase productivity and government support.
