The Russian Ministry of Agriculture held talks with COFCO, China's state-owned food processing holding company, and discussed the prospects of expanding the supply of Russian food products, particularly cereals, oils and oilseeds to China.
“The Russian side is very interested in expanding the number of regions eligible wheat and grain supplies to the Chinese market", said Russia’s Director of International Cooperation, Olga Garshina.
COFCO representatives noted that their company is the largest of China's state-owned companies involved in trade and processing of agricultural products although the procurement from Russia is low.
COFCO said they are looking for reliable partners among Russian suppliers of agricultural products particularly oilseeds for processing.
